99 Monte ABS and Cruise Control Problem

My 99 Monte Carlo has about 81K miles.

Last summer my cruise control locked at 75mph. The only way to shut it off was to pull the fuse. Is there a control module that should be replaced to be able to use the cruise control again? Is this a common problem?

Currently, when I push on the break pedal when moving at most any speed, I hear a hammer sound coming from under the hood directly in front of the driver. The hammering continues until just before the car comes to a stop. Is there a control module that should be replace to fix this problem? Is this a common problem?

Any help would be appreciated as I only have a week to fix the problem before I go back to the middle east.

Re: 99 Monte ABS and Cruise Control Problem

You brake problem sounds like the brake pads and/or rotors are warped and wearing unevenly. But since the sound comes from the driver side under the hood it could be your master cylinder. Check your brake fluid and maybe bleed your brakes.
