Driver window
My window was going up and down very slowly so I had it checked out and was told the motor was going. So I ordered a new motor and put it in. It seemed to be a little better than it was but not a lot. The passenger window always seems to be running good. Now that it's like 10 degrees here in Illinois my windows is just crawling down and up. I dont have anything else running except the heat. Is something else possibly wrong or is this the norm for these windows. I have a 98 GTP.
Thanks! |

Actually I did not replace the motor, a shop in town did. I dont know if they did or not but I would hope they did. If I have them do this would you really think it would work normal or is it because of maybe the cold weather? Thank you.

Re: Driver window
I made the mistake of thinking it was the motor when in fact it was the track. It was the rubber seal that the window goes up and down in. I tried to lube it but was only a temporary sollution. I replaceed it with an OEM one and it has been working fine since then.

The rubber seal inside the door? Where did you get the OEM one? Thanks!

Re: Driver window
The Rubber seal that the window rides in. The track is metal but the rubber seal sits inside the track and goes all the way around. As for where I found the part. I don't remember right now. Somewhere on the internet. You could always check ebay or for a last resort go to the dealership. They can be pricey though. good luck

Window Speed
I am no mechanic by any means so use your best judgement with this solution. I have a 98 Grand Prix and the windows are slow in this one as well. I sprayed a silicone lubricant (sp?) in the tracks for both windows and it really increased the speed of the windows.
Now I agree about replacing the rubber track but it is cheaper and quicker to spray the lubricant. I plan on replacing the rubber track in my car as well but not until summer. Good Luck. Jeff |

Re: Driver window
I think I can speak for everyone when I say if you find a solution to your problem that suits you, do it. No need to spend $100 when $1 will suite your needs. As long as your fix doesn't cause more problems.

What is the name of the spray lubricant you used and where did you get it if I may ask? I will try that first. Thanks you!

Re: Driver window
Hey guys, the inner panel part of my drives door, is a little bit loose. If i were to grab it and pull a little bit i could make a half inch to one inch gap. I was wondering if there was a simple way to get it attached well again, and why this might be happening.

Re: Driver window
I took my door panel off and sprayed the track with some silicone lubricant. I ran the window a few times and sprayed some more. I also sprayed up and down the felt track the window slides up in when it's closed. It seemed to get better so I put the door panel back on. Later tonight it seems to have sloweddown again...so I might have to try something else...
