Manifold Conversion

Can a 1st or 2nd gen intake manifold be redrilled to bolt up to the 3rd gen head? It's gonna get cut-up regardless, so I'm just worried about it matching up to the head. I can re-drill stud holes and what not. Thanks!

Re: Manifold Conversion

The Split Port head on the intake side is nothing like the other genteraions of CVH's. You have the IMRC section to worry about fitting, or if you go directly to the head you'll have the coolent passeges to worry about blocking.

Lot of work for very little if any gain.
Just have the SPI intake manifold ported.

Re: Manifold Conversion

not DIRECTLY to the head, that was my bad. But bolt it in place of the existing. Remember, it WILL be cut up and modified. I just have plenty of 1st and 2nd gen manifolds around my area for cheap, and they are easier to chop up than the 3rd gen. There will be some added to and taken off of the chopped manifold, I just need to know if the runners can match up to the IMRC with little or no modifacation/fabrication.

ie - runner size, spacing,etc.

Thanks!

Re: Manifold Conversion

The intake side on the SPI is nothing like the older CVH's. The 2nd gen 1.9 manifold will be smaller then the SPI one. The 1G manifold might be about the same as the SPI. The ports are shaped different. If you did make it work, you wont gain much. Both the old 1.9 HO and SPI are rated at 110hp.
