Spare Oem Computer/ecm/ecu Brain???
can anyone say if it's a good idea to pick up a spare OEM COMPUTER/ECM/ECU BRAIN for my '99 rodeo, it's about $20, and from a used rodeo? NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CURRENT ONE @ 60k MILES
I read on this forum that they are pretty reliable. but thought it worth asking. if you think it's a good idea, what do you think about the cost, how high should I bid max? thanks, SOLSTER

Sounds like a bar-goon too me! You could always sell it on eBay if you decide you no longer want it.

yeah, but is it overkill to get that particular part as a backup? what likelyhood does a ecm have of going down?
thx!

Re: Spare Oem Computer/ecm/ecu Brain???
I just replaced the one in my F-150
$539.70 the cause of it burning up was a powerchip that had been installed in it before I purchased it. It came loose and shorted the PCM. As far as purchasing a backup PCM for $20 bucks you cant go wrong if its good. The part # needs to match the # on your PCM if it dont it's still worth buying to sell you could make a few bucks off of it. |
