Intense PCM

I just recieved my Intense PCM for my 97 GTP, now i have a question. Do i have to switch the Knock Sensor plates on them, or does the Intense PCM not need to have a CASE Learn in general. Im pretty sure i have to switch the knock plates from the Stock PCM to the new INtense

Re: Intense PCM

I know that when you change your pcm you need to have a case learn done. but I am unsure about the plates.

Yes you have to take out the Knock sensor out of your stock PCM and place it in the Intense PCM.

As long as you dont get an SES,then you wount need to have a case learn done on 97s.

IIRC are the 2 harness's that go into the PCM held in by screw's and onnce you have them lose just wiggle the connector back and forth untill they pull out.

Hope this helps you out!

To remove the harnesses, just loosen the long center bolt on each connector. That's all you have to do to remove the wire bundles from the old PCM.

Re: Intense PCM

got that done, omg th is is taking so long, two of the actual connecters on two individual wires are bent, and it looks like someone made the tensioner clips that hold them in loose, so now i cannot plug in one of the harnesses on my new PCM, i have work later on and my car will not run. To give you a better idea of whats wrong, each wire has a metal clip on the end that plugs into a serial port on the actual PCM. Two of them are loose and now i cannot connect one of the harnessed, specifically the Blue one, i got the white one on good. I have no idea what to do, any genius ideas

You can buy new pins from GM Part # 12084913 and they come in a pack of 5 or elese you can try radio shack IIRC the part # is 276-1428A.

Can you bend them straight???If not,you will have to replace the bad ones.

I can tell you what worked for me in a similar situation.......can't say it will work for you, for sure.

On the back of the connector there's a gray plastic cover. The cover protects the wires as they make their bend to enter the connector. Carefully pry the cover it off. Try pushing the specific wires that are causing you trouble back into the connector.

I had a similar problem when I installed my Intense PCM. The #21 pin on the clear connector side (performance shift jumper) was bent in the PCM. When I tried to connect the PCM, the bent pin puched the sleeve almost out of the connector.

Be careful.....your working with relatively small gauge wire. It can break if your too forceful.

Re: Intense PCM

everything is in right, i have an INTENSE PCM, anyone else have this, i also have a 97 GTP, i have a constant SES light on due to the fact that i cut out the u-bend and did not bother replacing it with a dummy O2 sensor. I juss drove it for 5 minutes and i can tell a lil difference, do i need to drive it more to learn the PCM, or am i just not good and noticing little increases in performance lol. Also i know that i do not need a CASE learn if i swapped the KR module out of stock PCM into new one, but will it help at all if i do get one??

Dont know how the Intense PCM is,Ive still got the old GPstore PCM in mine for the past 5 yrs, since that was the only one out at the time.Just take it out and drive it as if you stole it.

If you bought the PCM from Intense, why didnt you have them delete the code for the rear O2 sensor and then you wouldnt have to worry about it anymore.

Its not needed if you dont throw an SES,but I guess you will never know untill you get an O2 spoof. That should be the next thing on your list to get, since you will never know if you have any problems with any other part of your car since the SES is always on.

Re: Intense PCM

yea, thats the only thing that will bug me, not knowing if anything else is wrong with the car. And to answer your question larry, You can have intense customize anything with the PCM, but that qualifies as a "Custom PCM" which cost 269$ instead of the standard 169$. So instead of paying 100$ just to get the SES light turned off, i will prolly end up buying a O2 spoof.
