burnt spark plug

HELP!!!
2000 neon (p.o.s. = piece os sh..) ok. third spark plug is melted. The plug was blown out, so we tapped it out and heli coiled the plug. Now it melted the plug. Burnt oil all over it, what to do?? Could this be the head? the timing belt? time to junk it??? it has 178k miles and ran great up to this point. I know they have changed the desing of the head gaskets several times and cam seal tends to blow out. I was told that the egr system somewhere is not working due to the temp rising to burn the plug. Is there an egr valve on this because I cant find one, so if not where do i go now??
