Question 1998 suburban keyless entry programming

I need some help. I have purchased another key fob for my 98 sub and need to program it. I have attempted the paperclip on pins 4 and 8 on the data connector (nothing happened) and also tried holding down the button and turn the key on, off, on, off. No success there either. Could someone please help?

yes, I did. I used a paperclip on the 4 & 8 pins on the plug under the drivers side dash. After the locks cycle, I held down both of the buttons on the old remote for about ten (long) seconds and the locks cycled. Then I did the same for the new remote. DONE!!!!

Great.
I found the same instructions later in the day under the Tahoe section.
I programmed two remotes in about a minute.
Piece of cake.
Sure glad I didn't pay any money for the instructions!!!!!!!!!!!
