grafting it all up...

So say one flys over to japan. Takes a new Gtr (r34) apart and takes all the drivetrain stuff -screw the shell. Imports it to america and grafts it all to say a 32 ford or something (well just anything maybe a 240 whatever has the closest wheel base to it) would this be legal at all. Oh and when I say this I don't care about states with emissions. Also don't care about "bastardizing" a car either - I just what a quick yes or no if there is one.

You know I post a question here and some idiot no matter where or when- or ven if the question is a dumb question someone always has to change the subject.

Yes good boy now sit. roll over and bat that thing between your legs and yes I have been know to circumcise a nat. So what’s your point? Wait was I getting off the subject oh I’m sorry…ug.

Anyhow so is it legal to import the bottom end and drop it into an American donor car? (suspension, wheels, brakes, engine, trans, frame (well sub frame…whatever), axles the whole shebang except the shell/interior ect)

Oh good lord, not another. Okay, 1, you ARE a newbv, obviously.

2. Hi. Keep it to 1 thread.

3. We know they do...that's why we're here, right?

[quote=i_love_skylines]is anyone on here hhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllooooo ooooooooooooooo[/QOUTE]

This is a FORUM, not a CHATROOM. It might take time, but very rarely does someone not reply at all. Please, shut up and observe. And polease, PLEASE, if you're gonna do something dumb like this, prepare to leave, first.

As for your question, I believe just importing the engine might be legal, but the whole frame/engine/tranny, I don't think so...

Re: grafting it all up...

... Oh my God they so need to set me up to moderate this section as well...

i_love_skylines... Chill buddy, keep the posting relevant, and stray away from making multiple, consecutive posts over nothing. HighOctaneNOSUser is right.

As for the legality of stripping a Skyline and swapping all of the body panels, componenets and mechanics onto an S-Series chassis... Why?

Is a Skyline that amazing of a machine? If your going to go through that trouble... Just do this:

Fly to Japan, take molds of the body panels, interior, exterior, etc etc. Get the powertrain, and interior parts.

Come back to the states, make a full tube chassis, make the body panels, and swap the interior in... And you've got yourself an original rip-off of a road car.

The kind of work your talking about is simply pointless... Legal... Not sure... It could swing either way.

But deffinately pointless.

Im not downing you, because I always thought it might be a fun project... But then I relized what I just typed.

Re: grafting it all up...

Or me

But seriously, Zed, maybe some people like the 240 SX that much? I don't know the attraction, but then again, some people don't know the attraction about skylines. SO it IS possible, and very likely.

Re: grafting it all up...

ok blight, i think weve went over EVERY single senario in this forum as to how to import skylines. the only logical way to get it in is through motorex.

i WILL start a petition to get you banned if you keep posting seriously stupid things like this. its all covered in the stickies. and how come every single thread turns into either a post whoring competition or how we can get skylines in around motorex. EVEN IF WE COULD, your little junior high ass wouldnt be able to get one. seriously....do some research before you post this useless crap.

Re: grafting it all up...

the legality of swaping engines dependes on the state, for example CA if it is 74 and older you can do whatever you danm well please :P so a rb engine to a 240zx is totaly street legal in CA but if you want to put in in to a 240sx it is only race/show legal, need to cehck you state laws on it, i know some states you can swap in to a 240sx and have it street legal , there are also some companys that do this, mckinny moter sports is in ca and they do the 240sx swap and have experince in it, and they are working on doing a 240zx swap, i belive they can even get a 240sx swap with a rb26dett with the AWD but they carge a lot!! of money to do that, but to be honest you might as well just get a gts25t r32 from motorex cause it is still going to be like 8 to 10 k for the complete swap ( you still have to buy and provide the car ) ( that price is from a 2 year old quote i got from them , and i dont rember it to much so it might be diffrent now )

just my 2 cents umm maby make that 75 cents :P

umm...incorrect. a non origionally complying engine is not legal, no matter what the state laws or how old the car is. they arent illegal just because of emissions, but because it was never offered in the US. all a cop needs to know is what an sr20det or rb series motor looks like, and you get fined up the arse and in some states you can face jail time. and you can plan on having that engine removed as well. even in minnesota, where there are no emissions laws, its still illegal.

also - cars made before 86 (somewhere around there, dont quote me on that), have to be tested for emissions bi-yearly.

Re: grafting it all up...

hehe kewl didnt know there was a fed reg on that, but a 74 and older car does not need to be smoged ( fact but kinda hard to prove ) I used to own a 73 merc 450slc that was imported from germany with the german engine in it (you could only get a 74 450 slc in usa and it was first released in 72 or 73 in germany ), and never once got bother about it, also never had to have it smoged ( this car was in my family for a while, since i was a little boy ) and while a cop can probley fine you about the engine, well i never had a cop open my hood on any of my cars to look :P also had a 73 bug that never had to be somged or emmisione tested, bolth of thoes cars where really easy to reg, never had to do anything but pay the money at dmv
