unlocking radio

Hey all,
Quick question..... I had disabled my step daughters car for a few days(took out bat fuse) and we had to reset the code for the radio. She said she followed the directions in the manual(code was written in manual from previous owner) but it still wont come on. I'm assuming the the radio is locked. How does one unlock the radio so I can input the code.

Thanks for your help.

Re: unlocking radio

Make sure the instructions are for the right year/model (Autozone may be able to help). I used 2 apparently similar owners manuals for mine, but with different instructions - one worked the other didn't (naturally).

Also remember that if you mess up, you have to wait like 1/2 hour with the ingition switch at "Acc" before you can try again.

Also, make sure you have the correct code. If not, take the Serial number (from the back of radio) along with the registration to a Honda dealer.

Re: unlocking radio

If you enter it incorrectly 3 times, it locks up..
you must turn the key to 'Acc', leave drivers door open, and leave it alone for an hour. This will reset it and allow you another 3 turns.

Re: unlocking radio

Igor, those instructions are year-dependent. My '93 didn't have to have the door left open. Do whatever it says in the book!

Re: unlocking radio

My fault, I tell so many people how to do this for so many different makes/models/years that I get them confused sometimes.

Re: unlocking radio

haaaa bullshit! Sooo not true, diconnect the battery n thas why it becomes locked in the first place. That def aint gonna make it work. You have to put in the CODE when the deck says CODE.......the 5 digit number under the top of the computer box in the back of the engine bay on the passenger side.

Re: unlocking radio

There is a differance between LOCKED and CODE.

Disconnecting the batter will unlock it so you can then put in the code!

Re: unlocking radio

Obviousely you don't know what im talking about because you have no clue.

I never said the radio says LOCKED. If you read the post we are talking about putting the code in 3 times wrong and then the radio LOCK's you out. You cannot put the code in again you have to either unplug the radio or disconnect the battery so it looses memory and then you can put the right code in once you have it.

Maybe next time instead throwing your 2 cents in you will read the post instead of just guessing and not knowing

Re: unlocking radio

or maybe next time you wont be a dick.....??

obviously you can unplug the battery to UNLOCK it to put in the code. I OBVIOUSLY didnt know what you were making reference to. Fact is if its locked its cuz you DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT CODE!!!

haa sad part is you were wrong to begin with, b/c either way whether you unhook the battery after it locks up or not, your still gonna have to wait. give or take 15-30min. Trust me when i believed Honda about the code being on the back of the deck, i had to wait for a very very long time before i figured that code was BS. Soo no unplugging the battery after it locks up will not do a damn thing, b/c why was it asking for a code in the first place????? BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS UNPLUGGED! So obviously if it gets locked it is still gonna take the same amount of time to unlock whether the battery is plugged up or not

Sooo you might wanna work on thinking before speakin n just not guesssing
