Electrical nightmare.

Hello,

I have a MKIV GTi Turbo (year 2000), and as of last night when I press the brake pedal the rear washer wipes once , the rear window heater comes on (including dash indicator), the dashlights flicker and the stereo lights flicker. When I release the brake it all stops. Also if I indicate whilst this is going on it acts as though an indicator bulb has blown (rapid flash).

Any advice that saves me losing my car to the dealer for a week and costing me several hundred pounds would be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers,

Bri.

Re: Electrical nightmare.

I'm not sure if the IV's have the same problem as the III's, but I would check for corrosion at the rear bulbholders. Where the wiring harness plugs into the bulbholder unit.
