'95 4WD Won't Work

Shift into 4L and gearing is lower. Behaves as if it is in 4wd but front wheels are not engaged and indicator light on lever base does not light.
Yes...bulb is good. Feels like transfer case is physically shifting...just the front wheels don't know it. Is there a selinoid or vacuum element that I can look at? Thanks

Re: '95 4WD Won't Work

Your front axle actuator may be shot or your 4x4 fuse is blown. The OEM actuator on the axle is a thermal unit(needs to heat up to engage) and are known for going bad and blowing fuses. You could just go to the dealer and get a new thermal unit or you could upgrade to the electric motor type unit used on 98 and newer. If you are interested in the updated unit do a google search of this site or internet for 26060073 (part number of electric axle actuator) and you should find how to figure out what wiring harness adapter you need- it varies depending on gross vehicle weight and model year
