my 97 5.7 will never get posi on a dry road. this is a huge problem for racing. i just want to knowhow i could get a cheap limited slip? also would the gears out of a z71 work on my 2 wheel drive? any info will help. p.s. what would be the best gears for me?

Re: i need posi

rick,
i installed a lockright in my 97 z-71 in about an hour. to date i've put over 30,000 miles on it and it's still holding up. i tow, race with nitrous and hill climb in sand, so i think it's a well made piece. and it doesn't require ring and pinion re-adjustment.

If you are looking for quick accelleration from a stop. 4:11 ratio is good. For all around driving 3:73 If u want a top end freeway flyer 3:56 or lowr.

A Detroit Locker will get the job done for you. You can pick one up for about $400, and the only stronger locker out there would be the ones found in Rockwell's. They're also very quiet and don't unexpectedly lock up while driving down the street.

I think that 4.11 ring & pinions would be perfect.

What type of racing do you do?

I only take the truck to the 1/4 mile once in a while. Once in a while i also pull a 16 ft trailer. I need to know what spline, inch, and bolt i am looking for when i buy?

Absolutley! that info matters, You have either 28 0r 30 spline and I guessing a C1500 is what you have, which would most likely be 10 bolt, 8.5 in. ring gear.
