Advice on replacing Infinity Gold System
Thinking about replacing the system in a 1994 GC. Left channel speakers are working but very quiet compared to the right side, I suspect the stock amplifier is DOA on left side. CD player rejects pre-recorded CD's, not mp3's and displays "error".
So my question is this. Should I replace the amp with another infinity gold unit along with a up-to-date head unit? or should I bag the infinity amp idea, replace the head unit and replace the amp with an aftermarket one also? If so, how do you bypass the wiring going to the stock amp? |

Replacing Infinity Amp
OK, you can replace the amp, basically bypassing it, but you cannot run an aftermarket deck to it. Your option are replace it with a new aftermarket amplifier or just bypass and use the aftermarket deck power, here is the wiring for your unit to bypass it, you basically cut off both plugs and wire them wires together or tap connect the 2 plugs together as follows:
Wiring goes as follows: Speakers to Amp Left Front (+) Green to Green/Red Left Front (-) Brown/Red to Green/Black Right Front (+) Purple/Yellow to Light Blue/Red Right Front (-) Blue to Light Blue/Black Left Rear (+) Brown/Yellow to White/Red Left Rear (-) Brown/Light Blue to White/Black Right Rear (+) Blue/White to Tan/Red Right Rear (-) Blue/Pink or Blue/Orange to Tan/Black Here is a link with some info on changing the head unit and some basics. http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs...PDF/533017.pdf |
