Angry 95 AWD front brakes pulling right

After changing front pads, idler arms, 4 tires and 4 shocks, I get a definite pull to the right when ever I use the brakes. Then I replaced the rotors, calipers and both front brake hoses. Still have the pull to the right. After discovering a leaking rear wheel cylinder, I replaced both rear cylinders and brake shoes, flushed/replaced brake fluid, and bled the entire system. Still is pulling to the right!! It pulls enough that it makes driving in city traffic a real nightmare! Anybody have an idea what's going on with this beast? I'd really appreciate any information you have to get this fixed.

Re: 95 AWD front brakes pulling right

You have a sticking caliper.

My guess is when you replaced the calipers you did not grease the caliper bolts. The calipers actually slide back and forth on these bolts and it's very important that they have the proper type of high temp grease on them. If they are corroded and rough I'd replace them as well.

Thanks for the tip! The bolts were prety rough so I replaced them. The top one on the right side had a "groove" worn in it that looked bad enough that it might cause the caliper to stick.- But what I found by accident was the mechanic that put the brake lines on had the left and right hoses reversed, i never would have thought there was a difference but, i had him switch them and wala! - no more pull to the right! The hoses look identicle from the outside to me, but they must be different on the inside!

Re: 95 AWD front brakes pulling right

I think the hoses are the same for both sides. Both Autozone.com and oreillyauto.com both show only one hose for the front. Maybe once they bled the brakes after the swap they cleared things up. Glad it's fixed either way.

Re: 95 AWD front brakes pulling right

Interesting Calidad. I found:

BRAKEWARE BRAKE HOSE - FRONT for a 1995 CHEVROLET TRUCK ASTRO VAN 2WD
Unit Price: $9.99
Core Value*: $0.00
Part No.: 77226
Weight: 0.25 lbs.

I see the difference now.... 2WD vs. AWD.
