Starter removal help!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok i have a 91 s10 2.8v6 2wd and i got the wires off and the bolts out of the starter but having trouble getting it dropped out the truck. anyone know how to get the starter off or dropped out of the truck. thnx

I just replaced mine on my 4x4 automatic today, and the easiest way that I found is

remove the cross member between the engine and transmission

remove all bolts from the cover between the motor and bell-housing. It'll stay up there hanging up on the exhaust but this is fine.
it'll just slip righ out now with very little hassle.

I did mine in less than an hour, but I was using air tools, plus I had my engine out a couple of months ago... so there was no rusty bolts.
I wish that I would have replaced the starter the same time as the engine

kool, i just got a new air compressor and tools and when i bought the truck they didnt have dipstick in it so oil blew out of it so there is like no rust or anything anywhere cuz its all oil covered (protected lol). thnx for the info.

Hey that's a good way to buy a rust free 91 Chevy s-10, and it was probably a bargin with an un-explained oil leak

lol now that u mention it, bought it for 100 bucks, runnin on 3 of 6 cylinders and smoked bad, all i had to do is change oil and plugs and wires and had it runnin great for 230,000miles just got to do the starter now lol and i hate the oil mess when i got it but i got engine cleaned off i figured id just leave the oil thats on the frame and other parts so it stays protected lol

100 bux + quick tune up. Now that's the deal of the lifetime.

Good idea leaving the oil underneath.
I know when I worked in road construction some workers drove their new cars through fresh asphault for the same reason.

How did the starter go? When I just did mine that looked like the easiest way by far.
