Exclamation 2 Fast 2 Furious Question

I know I'm probably sounding pretty stupid but I have two questions. First, what gives the car that sound like air being released in between shifts? Second I want a muffler/exhaust that sounds like the ones in 2 Fast 2 Furious/ The fast the Furious movies (preferably the nissan skyline gt-4 R34). If anyone can give me an answer that would be great. thanks

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious Question

I'll try and help you out a little here. The sound between shifts is suppose to be a blow off valve. I'm prolly a little off on exactly what it does, someone please correct me if I'm wrong but from my understanding it's a valve that when the accelerator is lifted up quickly releases gas from the intercooler side of the intake and that air is either sent to the atmosphere or back into the intake.

As far as the exhaust sounds from my experience each engine has it's one exhaust note with each muffler, so getting your Golf to sound like an R34 might be kind of tough.

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious Question

the blowoff valves releases air that is being built up so it doesnt build up in between shifts

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious Question

Since the turbo is spinning still and pumping PSI against the throttle body even when the engine is shifting, the pressure needs to be released because the engine is not taking in all that air. Not having a blow off valve would build up huge amounts of pressure which could blow something up. The turbo doesn't know when your engine shifts, so it keeps pumping air - the BOV is there to release the unneeded air that your engine doesn't need when it's shifting.

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious Question

well, the boost valve thing has been explained nicely...

As for the exhaust note....tear out the rear seat of your car, fit a film studio sound mixing desk ,two really large speakers, and a microphone close to the exhaust tip.

Mix until you get the exact note that you think is macho enough, then set to simoultaneous playback and go cruising.

And I've heard that a blowoff valve gives you 35.4% more boost if you duct tape a duck call to the outlet........

LOL - or if that doesn't work, you can parralel wire your flux capacitor and you'll be looking at similar gains!

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious Question

The sounds in between the shifts is the blow-off valves. The exhaust is tricky. Try Greddy's or HKS.
