98 montana 3.8l oil light flickers

My '98 montana oil light will flicker after long driving (30min or more). It will only flicker while stopped, and if I give it some gas it will go off. It also stays off while driving. The flickering only happens while stopped. Any suggestions. I also noticed a few drops of oil. Could an oil leak cause this warning or is my oil pump going out?

Could be weak oil pump,or excessive clearance on your rod or main bearings. As oil warms up it pumps easier and gets a little thinner. It might gain in volume but will lose a little pressure, which will alllow a problem such as yours to show up.

How many miles on the van?
Has maintenance been good?
And of course the obvious..........enough oil and the right grade?

From the symptoms (only comes on when stopped/idle) and assuming oil level is good, I would guess its the oil sending unit. Should be a pretty a pretty in-exspensive thing to replace to see if problem goes away.
