240sx brake quests

i have been searching around for the conversion parts needed for a 5 lug conversion. well i found replacement hubs with no modifications needed to anything.

my problem is i have a sponsorship from a company that gives me a good discount on brembo brakes systems.

i cant seem to figure out what parts i need. i know i need a 5 X 114 rotor but then i cant seem to figure out what really gonna fit.

also getting the right calipers are in question too.

i already know im gonna have to replace all brake lines with i wanted to do in the first place for safety and performance reasons.

when it comes to fitting on brakes for this conversion i am a nub and i could really use some help.

btw i have on order 17x9.5 rays gramlights 57s so i need something that will fit in those wheels another perk of sponsorship

Re: 240sx brake quests

why not just get a system thats made for a japanese 180sx???? they should fit, im sure they have an aplication for them. Really its not that hard. why not ask your sponser, id hope they would have a clue about something. With those rims any brake kit will clear so i wouldnt worry. Really depends on how much stopping power your going to need, and if your going to be road racing and what not.

just get a brembo kit for 4 lug 180sx's. this will save you trouble for the 5 lug swap. also when you go with larger rotors, you need to put caliper extending brackets. a brembo kit will come with that along with all the hardware included it even comes with steel braided lines, and the rotors are usually a 2 piece unit.

Re: 240sx brake quests

get the z32 4-piston calipers, with steel braded lines. thats probably the most efficient setup for the 240 cause you can get the most expensive part in good used condition.. i have them on the front (don't really need them on the back) and they're amazing.. all i need is something to increase the pressure (i don't know enough about braking systems so i don't know what part to get). once i get that, i'll use the pads, rotors and lines i have now and replace them when the time comes

pressure thingy your talkin about is called the proportioning valve. what it does is that it sets a split point for the brake pressure going from the front to the rear.

in other words, it reduces the brake pressure goin to the rear disc because when you brake, the weight is shifted off the rear to the front, so the rear would lock up. by putting a different proportioning valve, it will reduce the rear brakes to the proper pressure.

this is why your rear brakes lock up first when you do the Z32 brake swap. by swapping in the Z master cylinder, it will include the correct proportioning valve to let your brakes work properly. i have a Z32 master cylinder installed on my ride.

damn i had to pull out hte text book for this cause i haven't needed to touch on this subject in years!!
