Need help please. 95 LX wont start

Our backup car a 95 LX auto wont start, this is what happened. The battery was dead so my dad jumped it and took it to a parts store to buy a new one. When he origionaly jumped it, started fine no problem.

He puts the new battery in and now it wont turn over. It clicks and that's all you get. I took a wrench and tapped around on top of the tranny and when you tap for a few seconds and then stop you'll get sparks, and the fan will kick on for a second. Head lights, and turn signals work along with all accesories. Later today I will reset the fuel pump and see if that helps otherwise I am at a loss at this point.

Any help would be great

Thanks,
Mat

Sounds like a bad connection. Check the wires at both ends from battery to starter and battery to ground. Should have your starter looked at too if the battery wires/concections are ok
