96 Explorer Overhead console

Does anyone know if I can add an overhead console if my Explorer never came with one. Will the wiring harness be under the headliner? Where is the outside thermometer located?

Thanks,
E

You can, but the wiring harness is not there. You have to get one & add it. It's not THAT hard, but it's a couple hours work.

Where does the harness plug into. Does it go down between the windshield and the drivers window and plug in under the dash?

I just purchased an overhead console with the harness intact and I'm wondering the same question. I know that it plugs into a connector under the driver's side dash and the harness is ran from the console down the a-pillar to the connector. But my question is where does the outside temp sensor connect, under the dash or in the hood? If you got any feedback on this let me know.
