Brakes on Rodeo, 97
Temps. just dropped into the single digits here for the first time since I purchased my 97 Rodeo in Sept. Went to apply the brakes; pedal didn't move and no brakes. Any suggestions what to look for? Thank you to any and all that reply.

a puddle by one of the wheels. Leaking Master cyl.
Water in the system and it froze. Get it to a heated garage, see what happens, and then flush the brakes.

If you haven't changed the brake fluid for a long time you probably have ice in it.
Water is miscible (it mixes) in brake fluid. The brake fluid reservoir "breathes" in and out as you apply and then release the brake peddle. Especially if you live in a humid climate, condensation can form inside the reservoir and get into the fluid. Then when you get a good cold snap it freezes in the master cylinder or brake lines. Since you can't move the peddle at all, I'd suspect the MC. Let the car idle for a while to warm up the engine compartment. It should be enough to melt any ice that's there. Be careful though, you still could have ice in the brake lines or wheel cylinders and may not have a safe brake system. Then go straight to Midas or Brake Check or your favorite mechanic and get the system flushed.
