LM contest entry; 1965 Ferrari 250 LM
Here s a little progress thread I d figure I d post here (as if I didn't have enough project threads, eh
) But basically this is a very quick try-out car for some weathering techniques I ll be using on my jaguar. It's the 1/24 th academy kit, very bad detail overall, it's more like a slotcar kit, the interior was pretty in-existant. So what did I do to it? I spent pretty long to sand, correct, and fix the body (badly molded) ![]() As always ,I hate having fixed steering, so I used some pieces from another kit... and I added interior detail, the doors, parts of the chassis (yes, that IS spaghetti ) and basically enhancing the interior view.![]() Not much will be left to see(luckily, cause it's not that well done, but the originals neither, so I guess it's pretty realistic ;-) ) ![]() and lastly I just dropped the body several mm to make it look more like the real thing. ![]() Oh, and BTW, the car I ll be building, is the Belgian car from Ecurie Francorchamps, second in the 65 LM race. as in this pic... ![]() Oli |

Oh yes! This'll be good!
Are you stopping your Jaguar? EDIT: Spaghetti ?! HAHA! that's not a bad idea, considering all the shapes available, how do you glue it? |

Re: LM contest entry; 1965 Ferrari 250 LM
Hey, hell no I m not stopping my Jaguar !
This one is just to get quickly done, just to test some stuff out, before I do them to the jaguar (like weathering) As for the Spaghetti, I ve read this in Toxicwaltz's 037 thread, and I had run out of thin tubing, so I figured, why not, and took my superglue, and there you have it, not the cleanest of jobs, but hey Oli Oli |

Is that photo from Goodwood this year? Didn't see the car there otherwise I'd have gotten a few more photos of it as well!

Like the way you are detailing it up Oli. But don't spend too much time on Ferrari's while the Jag is waiting!

I have this model in my "to build" shelf and I'd like to build Ecurie Francorchamps car also. What colour are you going to use for the body? That yellow isn't easy to find...

How long would that spaghetti last. Will it last forever.

Re: LM contest entry; 1965 Ferrari 250 LM
thanks for the caring, I don't really think the spaghetti will go bad, as it's covered in paint, and it won't touch the air, so I don't see why it should go bad...
oh and for the paint, well I did some trials, and it's gonna get a little DOT4 bath... And the paint I found is some Duplicolour which looks very similar to the one on the real car, although I don't know the exact reference... More on this later, when it's out of bath! Bye Oli |

Re: LM contest entry; 1965 Ferrari 250 LM
Nice work on an ordinary kit! I'm sure you will make it look realistic.
Spagetti hey? I guess that stuff would be able to bend around any curves if you lightly cooked it? I wonder if it drys hard again? I'm thinking of complex exhaust shapes?

You'd better try another variety: penne rigate, or coquillettes: ![]() But if you cook them the first thing they'll do is sticking! j/k... Oli, great job! And good luck with the final painting: I'm already prepared to fall in love!

Re: LM contest entry; 1965 Ferrari 250 LM
Now that is the sign of a great modeling brain, always looking for new techniques!
![]() Spaghetti always dries hard on the botton of the pot when I cook it and don't clean up straight away. Sounds like it's worth a try. As labandabonnot says stopping it sticking to what you form it over might be an issue. |

About spaghetti: I don't see why would it go bad, as well... I have seen some model bridges built with it and they last for ages (unless someone tries to test them
).About the color: I thought Francorchamps yellow was a bit lighter, as in this 512 picture: ![]() It seems darker in your 250LM picture. Humbrol has 2 yellows, 69 and 99. I think 69 is a bit dark for this car. 99, on the other side, is a flat yellow. Maybe with a clear coat and / or a good waxing... or a mix of the two... I wish I could spend some time trying it but I can't right now. Work... So, I,m looking forward to see your model built, maybe I can pinch some ideas and not to ruin mine
