1999 voyager electrical

Our 99 voyager (3.0L automatic) has had an intermittent turn signal problem. Occasionally when indicating a right turn, the indicator arrow inside on the top of the dash and the outside signal lamps stay on without flashing. Even when you turn the signal off, they stay lit. The only way to clear it is to flip the signal lever off and either indicate a left turn or again indicate a right turn to clear it. It will sometimes flash a couple of times and then stick on again.

I have no burned out bulbs in the system. I was going to look at the flasher but I believe that the flasher in this vehicle is a different type of unit than the old 3-prong plug in type. I think it is a larger module type of flasher. Any suggestions ?
