Much Respect...

Oooook so, I just moved to Colorado from NewYork right, and I had to sell my 87 Firebird because I couldnt take it half way across the country. So right now I am driving my fathers 99 Pontiac Sunfire SE, this thing isn't fast at all, hell my grandmothers 97 Civic 4dr sedan is ALOT faster then it. It has NO modifications what so ever, Nothing, not a damn thing.

Anyways, I dont drive like I want to race, I dont cruise trying to look like a badass, I just drive the damn car, much like the way I did when I was driving my firebird. So I'm driving to work today and I'm at a light, Ok now picture this, me sitting there watching the light, and this guy in a burnt orange 95ish GS-T Eclipse pulls up, so I look over and just sorta look it over, good looking car, nice rims and a good sounding exhaust, and then it happens, he see's me checking out his car, possibly his GF, and revs his engine, not once, not twice, but 3 frigging times. Ok so lets step back for a moment and think, 95ish GS-T Eclipse obviously Moddedvs a 99 Sunfire w/o any mods at all:. Hmmmmmmm the mind boggles.

As soon as the light turns green he just friggin nails the gas and goes like a bat outta hell while I putt along just trying to get to work. Anyways I did actually punch it and obviously got smoked, all in good fun.

But the point is I'm sick of the buttholes driving these modded cars that think they are hot shit, that dont have any respect for other people on the road, and drive recklessly. Got ALOT of respect for the ones that have modded cars and still drive like any other normal person respecting the rules of the road.

Call me jealous, I'll admit I am a bit while I save up for my 300ZX TT.

Anyways thats just my

EDIT: On a side note, perhaps someone can explain to me this mentality that I seem to see oh so often.

Re: Much Respect...

My car can be pretty darn quick when the boost is up, traction is good, and when the foot is heavy.

But it's my daily driver, so I tend to drive it ultra conservative. Just putting along, being a good little boy. I'm not gunning it every light, my car makes the most harmonic pulse at about 2600rpm in 5th gear. I'd rather hear that, then it screaming at 6800rpm.

Ok, not always... but you know what I mean.

Re: Much Respect...

Yea thats just what I'm talking about, the "king shit" looks, peeling out at every light or punching it at every light to make everyone else around you think your cool and fast, gets old real fast.

Lotta respect to those who can actually drive respectfully and race when its sensible.

Re: Much Respect...

When I drive Jekyl (my non-turbo), I always find it entertaining how many people want to race and how great it feels to just drive off "normal."

Even if I was still in my street racing days, I wouldn't race Jekyl because it is soooo darn slow. It's just funny because people think it is fast

Driving Hyde is a different story. He is fast and is obviously modified for power. I just wave people by (the racers) when I see them on the street.

The only "Street racers" do that piss me off is when I am traveling, I tend to drive at a fairly healthy clip (75-80mph) and the racers tend to want to play and I rather they just leave me alone.

Typical scenario:
I've been traveling at 80 mph for the past 15 miles, I start to pass a typical "racer" who is doing 70-73 ... but "oh no, they can't let me pass" so they start driving stupid.

Geeze ... just let me on my way.

Most people tend to leave me be... Normally don't pick on me cause they think I'm in some 32 year old shitbox with a farty can. hahah.

Re: Much Respect...

Ahh don't worry about them. Sooner or later that attitude will get them pulled over, heavily fined, and worse, they'll wreck their car. Let them be that way. There's nothing you can really do, but hope that a cop is sitting at the stoplight behind you waiting for any idiot to do that. Soon enough their luck will run out. But until then just let it be. late...

Re: Much Respect...

Its the girlfriend. Really. Easiest way to get a race is to not check out the guys car, but his girlfriend. Works for me everytime.

Re: Much Respect...

hahahaha....cassie is right on that one. And yea Redneck...your car IS a sleeper to those who dont know the potential of swaps, but thats why its sexy. I kinda wish I had a sleeper myself, because I really do drive normally as much as I can because the damn gas is too expensive and I hate ppl who drive like asses on the road and try to race me when im just chillaxin...fast cars or not.
