Hyundai Sonata may have jumped timing...or is flooded?? I need help!

I have a 97 Hyundai...that I had to replace the fuel pump and fuel filter because of bad gas... I drove it for a day after replacing it ...but the next morning it would not start.. I tried spraying starter fluid in it and it would not start.. I pull the plugs and it was full of fluid..wipe them and tried again..it still would not start... what could be the problem.. Did it jump timing... ???????????what should I do??

Re: Hyundai Sonata may have jumped timing...or is flooded?? I need help!

I believe it's a gas problem..I took it by one of my mechanics..and he got it started right away...I think the combination of bad gas with plugs filing out.. was a major cause... He wiped the plugs off and then while I was trying to crank it .. he adjusted the throttle body once it started... he pulled the accelerator to the floor and ran it there for a while until I'm assuming the gas was out of the chambers..white smoke was coming out of the tail pipe for a while until it cleared itself up...it ran bad for a while then appeared to calm it self down.. He still thought it might have jumped timing...I tried starting it this morning and it started with no problems.. but it was idled a little above 2 and when the engine got warm ..the car idle dropped down until it eventually cut off.. It started back up immediately... but I'm sure there is still some type of problem with it... what are you thoughts?

Re: Hyundai Sonata may have jumped timing...or is flooded?? I need help!

The car had been sitting for over a year.. and it would not start... I took it by the hyundai dealer and they said that I needed a fuel pump and filter...So I had someone put on a fuel pump and filter and when they took the old filter and pushed the gas out of it...they said it was old gas..and since it had about 2 to 3 gallons in the tank.. I went and filled the car up with Amoco supreme gas adn then added a gas treatment to it.. It will start now...but when it warms up ...the rpms continue to drop until it eventually cuts off... I haven't really driven it much..just a lot of cranking in the driveway. Something is causing it to cut off when ever it gets warm.. the rpms start off when first started around 2.5, then gradually drop to it's below 1 and then it cuts off... it will cut back on ..but it sounds at that point as if a lot of gas in is the chambers.. It might just be a lack of proper idling.. I'm not sure???
