Knocking started up again...
OK, I posted a quesion similair to this before. When first starting from a stop, or stopping rather hard, it sounds like the engine is actually moving. I tried this with the hood open, and then engine is moving when it makes that sounds. This has always bothered me, but not too much. All the engine mounts are in good shape, so it was cool.
Now, the other day, it was doing it alot more. When turning, hitting a bump, braking... pretty much anything that would cause some stress to the engine, it make the loud thumping noise. This actually got worse during the day. The weird thing is that a couple days later, its back to normal. Any ideas on what this could be? Thanks all.

Re: Knocking started up again...
how are you checking the motor mounts? have a friend sit in the car and put in in drive and rev the engien a little bit while you watch for the engine to move around. then do the same with reverse. you should be able to see which motor mount is lettiing the engine shift around

Re: Knocking started up again...
my car did that before. it turned out that my front motor mount was completely shot and it was actually starting to wear down the metal on the inside wehre the rubber is supposed to be. check the motor mounts very closely, that's most likely the problem.

Re: Knocking started up again...
I was checking the mounts by looking at them and feeling them. You should be able to see bad mounts. I did that revving thing awhile back and it does move. Im just going to have them all replaced. How long can this go on b4 it gets expensive and painful? Oh, that was only the one day making all the noise. Itstill thuds and all, but only bad that 1 day. How much should all these mounts cost? and is thisjust the rubber, or the whole metal piece too. The only 1 I replaced b4 was the whole metal and rubber peice together.
