No spark after timing belt/head replacement
Help! I've got no spark after I replaced the timing belt and head on my 98 neon. It will occasionally spark after cranking has ended (ie: when it shouldn't be). OBDII is no help, it just says the battery has been out. Any ideas before I have to pay a shop to figure it out for me?
Thanks |

does it have a distributor? (i don't know specs on neons, especially year specific models) if so, make sure it is tight and not loose. also, make sure everything is in time. if you can hook up a timing light to number 1 spark plug wire and aim it at timing belt. there should be a mark on the belt and either the harmonic balancer, pulley, etc. found out timing for you car and see if it is accurate. it's also possible it wasn't put in time before reassembly. good luck.

Re: No spark after timing belt/head replacement
it sounds like the cam and crank arnt lined up propperly. or there is somthing wrong with your crank sensor. i recommend that you check it back out, look for your timing marks to line up both on the crank and the cam/cams. if you have no spark at all, then check your connections to your coil pack. make sure there is power in. if not then you will have to travel backwards - again check crank position sensor. if there is power going into the coil, and nothin coming out then replace that coil. let us know what you find
