anti theft

how do i reset the factory anti theft on an 01 grand prix ??

left the ingnition on for 3 mins... the security light went out
but as soon as i the tried the restart, same thing happened again.


nothing in the owners manual i see...

Are you talking about the TheftLock light on the radio? If so, that info is on page 3-17 in the 01 manual

Not the anti theft on the radio, it's the security light on the dash. It continually flashes while the ignition is in the on position. The car will start for approximately 5 seconds then it's like the fuel cuts out and the engine stops.
I'm kind of leaning towards a pass key issue just because the car was running fine up until I tried to start it this morning, but because the block heater(exclusive to frigid temps.) wasn't plugged in it took a couple of tries. And my understanding is that if you attempt several starts consecutively it could default the security system into thinking you are stealing the vehicle and activate some kind of anti theft deterrent to keep the car from running for more than a couple of seconds.
