Re: 01 grand prix

Sounds like a bad key. See your manual about PASS KAY III, page 2-28

Turn on the ignition, with the engine off, After about 10 minutes the security light should go out.
Turn ignition off, wait 5 seconds .
Do whole thing again two more times for a total of three times.

The vehicle learns the key information when turning key from OFF to CRANK. So make sure you turn the ignition off before trying to start.
Start car.
Once the car starts, if it starts, it should be learned.

If it runs ok, to learn other keys:
With engine running with programmed key, turn ignition off, and start with new key within 5 seconds.

Good luck.

Re: 01 grand prix

do you mean if it starts after the auxillary power has been on for 30 minutes in minus 30 degrees or have you had exposure (no pun)to these issues in the past?
either this is de ja vous or i've read or heard this sequence before. Either way, i pulled the lamp fuses to conserve energy, let you know in 30 minutes.

Will it reset itself after sitting for let say 24 hours?

Re: 01 grand prix

Hey Dragula, I went out to crank it over after the fix. Of course north of the 40th got the better of my Diehard and a boost was in order. I am happy to say that it is now warming up but, and there is always a but.

The security lite is still flashing...

Re: 01 grand prix

The information Dragula provided is something that is learned hands on.

If the big 3 carmakers would post this kind of info. on thier web sites it would make us all a little more loyal customers.

Drag, thanks again for the guildence and please pass on any more valued information to the rest of the net world. It's people like you that keep us coming back to places like this.
