Question ecu problem?

Well i checked out my whole car to see what the problem was, well most of it anyways. And i just want to know if the ecu's on first gens are known to go bad?

Where is the ecu located?

I found a post Hotshot8792 said......

behind the radio unit. When your sitting in the drivers seat, there's a kick panel (covered in carpet) next to your right leg attached to the center console. There's a cover looking thing thats by your right knee, pop that off with a flat head screw driver, then there's a screw that you undo with a phillips head. Then, there is one more, thing holding it in place which is down by the accelerator pedal, you can just pop that out of place by pulling on it. Now you can take the kick panel off and there's the ECU. To take the ECU completely out of the car, undo the kick panel on the other side of the console in the same way is the first kick panel, then you will see the bolts holding the ECU into place.
