alternator question.

my alternator light comes on when i have to excelerate when passing or getting on freeway plus i noticed the lights dimmed.it goes out when i let up on the gas .is there away to check if i need a new alternator,im thinking thats the problem. [email protected]

Most auto supply houses will check this for you for free. Don't go to any that require you to remove the alternator. There are places out there AutoZone for instance, that will hook up to your car in the parking lot and check it for you-no charge. Your problem definatly sounds like the alternator is dying on you. If your battery is fairly new, you will limp along until the alternator kills the battery.

Altenator replaced 2 times

I have had the same problem with my '99 Exp and when towing i noticed it the worst. I had the altenator rebuilt then a year later it went out so i ended up getting the new part. When testing the altenator I would suggest taking it out becuse you do not get a very accurate reading when it is still in. I would recommend getting a new altenator with a new belt at the same time.

Hope your well...
I also think your alternator is going bad.
take it out and go to one of those places that rebuilt alternators. have them check it before rebuilting it just to make sure thats the problem and not something else. Hope this help. Sincerely, Al
