Just painted my Calipers - some pics

Just finished painting my calipers...they were rusty and pissing me off.

I used a wire brush and drill with wire brush connector to brush all dust and rust then hand painted them with Folia Tec paint.

I had no choice with the colour and they only had yellow left (I wanted red) and were'nt importing any more.

Sooo could you tell us how you did it? Possibly a step-by-step writeup?

Like how man coats...what parts did you remove..etc etc.

Step by Step

Make sure you take before and after photos....

1) Cover all rubber hoses, disc etc using cloth tape or making tape
2) Clean calipers using brake cleaner and a rag (to get most of the dust etc off) I also used 'Simple Green' for this.
3) Use a drill with steel wool attachment and steel brush to clean rust, dust etc off. I also used a Dremel with a similiar attachment for the tight areas.
4) Then use brake cleaner again, a thorough spray and leave to dry, about 15 mins
5) Mask up any extra areas that you might hit with the brush.
6) Mix the paint together ie hardener etc (Should provide approx 3 hrs before going off)
8) Using a small brush paint 2 or 3 coats. Do not paint pads or discs or any metal pins etc. Be carefull of drips.
9) I gave an extra coat on the areas that could be seen.
10) Leave 24 hrs to cure

Looks nice, I like the yellow .

The process is pretty simple. The kit comes with everything you basically need. All that you have to buy, if you don't have it, is a steel brush that is used to clean off dirt, rust and so forth.
