Re: new engine swap

What happened to your other motor?

Your goin to have a hard time finding one that will be a direct bolt on that has 40,000 miles. Your best bet would to be rebuild your motor!

Re: new engine swap

Yes if you rebuild it everything that wears will be replaced with new parts. New bearings, new piston rings, all new gaskets and seals. This is the best way to go about doing it so you know there is no miles on the motor when its rebuilt. But if you think there is something wrong inside you might want to look into that. If I were you and in the same position I'd take advantage of this and build the motor, new rods and pistons, so if you plan to make a lot of power you dont have to worry about building the motor up later. Get it over with now and you will probably never have to pull the motor again.

Re: new engine swap

full rebuild should be around 5-600 if you do it yourself and have access to everything you need... If not, between 1500-1600 depends on the shop and if you know people.

Re: new engine swap

If that is the cyclone motor, you have to do more work than just swap the motors to get it to work... Plus you have no gaurantee that it has that many miles.

I would never buy a cyclone motor. Way overpriced.

Re: new engine swap

I am pretty sure that it isnt. Apparantly it is the same thing that came out of my car except with a different intake system and a bigger turbo...and of course its a red top. The guy who is putting it in has done these swaps before and he said it just drops right in

Re: new engine swap

Yeah that is the cyclone. Be prepared for problems. Also how much is he charging you to put that motor in?

Yes the motor just drops right in but you need to mess with the wiring harness and I have heard you need the computer that is for the motor too!

p.s. I guess there is such thing as to much boost lol oh well stock sucks any way

Re: new engine swap

Theres never such thing as too much boost... Theres such thing as an untuned motor with not enough fuel = detonation = melted pistons!

That looks like a good kit. Hopefully nothing happened to your block/crank/rods!
