I will never do it again. You do not need fuel injector cleaner if you use quality fuel from a quality company. Every 5 tank fulls fill up with premium.

Yea, all the cleaning needed.
I used to use cleaners ever two tanks but them noticed the deposits left by them on my sparkplugs.

Re: Opinion on injector cleaner
sea foam is the best the smoke is just all the junk burning out of the engine
as for premium it wont do a thing for a truck that is made for 87 octane all the 92 is for is in high compression engines |

Re: Opinion on injector cleaner
I don't recommend Seafoam.
It fouled up my plugs badly. Best thing to do is use a quality fuel and use injector cleaner every once in a while.

i've used sea foam and mystery oil on motorcycles, snowmobiles and trucks for years. sea foam is great for cleaning fuel systems, and as a fuel stabilizer. you do not need to use it all the time. i use it 2 or 3 times a year, before going on a long trip. the mystery oil is great for cleaning the upper engine. i ran it every now and then in my restored 77 goldwing. worked wonders! premium gas is a waste of money. most vehicles are set up to run 87 octane. unless you are running a high compression or performance engine, there is no need for higher octane. the higher octane prevents dentonation occuring. if your vehicle isn't pinging under load, regular gas is fine. at most stations, the regular gas is fresher because they sell more of it. i had more problems with my bikes and sleds running premium gas then anything else. i researched on the net and tried to understand as much as i could. this is my opinion and experience, but do what you feel works for you. sorry so long winded

For information, the fuel injector cleaners wont foul spark plugs, usually what causes it is the carbon on the valves and on the pistons that is being loosened by the carbon cleaner. One thing that should not be done is after cleaning compustion chambers is to run the engine at wide open throttle. It is best to let it Idle for a while then drive it normaly. If you floor bord it it usually burns the carbon to the spark plugs. If an engine is not carboned up then the cleaners wont foul the plugs. If the injector cleaner doe not loosen the carbon then why use it?

Re: Opinion on injector cleaner
Yes, fuel additives and injector cleaners WILL foul plugs if used excessively over time.
BTW, you are talking about combustion chamber cleaners which is completely different than injector cleaners.

Actually I use Seafoam brand cleaner in four ways. I add it to all my gas cans in the fall to stabilize my gas used in my lawn mowers and chains saws plus my atvs and the like. I use it with every tune up to clean injectors, although it works better as a preventive measure to keep them clean because once they are plugged it doesnt allways open them back up. I will pour about a third of a can in the oil to clean engines and to get rid of lifter noise. The last thing i use it for is a combustion chamber cleaner where it is poured through the throttle body or carb and run till engine is killed then wait 30 minutes to restart engine. I am sorry you have had such a bad experence with it. I think if you gave it another chance you might like it. Over the last 25 years I have tryed many other products and have not found one that compares. I have no connection to the company and I buy it just like anyone in the store. I have handed it out before and every one I know who uses it come back for more. Just my opinion.
