Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me understand why this is happening...
I bought my 92 Camry used a few months ago, and the CD player and cassette deck have never worked since I've owned it. If you put in a cd or cassette, the player just spits them back out. These are the OEM cd and cassette players. Long before I bought the car, the factory antitheft system was disabled- could this have anything to do with my players not working? And just a quick warning, I don't have a lot of experience with car audio! ;-) But I would really appreciate any help on this, because I'm tired of listening to the radio on my way to work! Thanks in advance!!! |

Re: 92 Camry CD player and cassette only eject when I try to use them!
Gee, it's a 92? Did you try to clean it?

Re: Re: 92 Camry CD player and cassette only eject when I try to use them!
Well, I think I finally found my answer (and no, it wasn't cleaning it, hee hee)... I checked out my aftermarket car guide to the 92 Camry (haha RTFM, right?), and sure enough, the players have an anti-theft system where, if the power is disconnected to the stereo, it won't work unless you have a security code unique to the individual player...
BUT the people I bought it from never gave me a code, so I guess I'll be calling one of the dealerships to see if they can help me out Thanks for the help though, cleaning it was my first thought, but then I could never find a cd cleaner, and the fact that both the cd and cassette player were ejecting had me thinking it might be something a bit more complicated ;-) And of course, as is my luck, it is. Oh well! |

Yea, call around to dealers and get the code. Sometimes they want to charge you money for the code. Others do it for free.
Does the radio still work, and just not the cassette and CD? I have an 88 Camry, and if I disconnect my battery, the radio will still work. I never tried the cassette. |
