My car is burning oil, when its fully warm (at half) and I press on the throttle I get blue smoke, its not very blue but you can definitely notice it. At idle is not too bad but its a bit less blue (still blue though) Also my oil consumption is quite bad, every two weeks I've got to add about a half litre of oil. Cars got 180 straight compression and the spark plugs are not fouled at all. I don't recognize any loss in power, my 2nd gear has also been the fastest and still is. The tip of my exhaust has a lot of oil on it which is obviously not normal.
Also forgot to mention, the car starts very well, I turn the key and it starts like a pro very little crank needed even in the cold weather no misfiring! Would the valve seals be toast? Do I need a valve job done? I am hoping its not the rings! ahh.. car has 88000 miles and is a NON-TURBO 1995. Last edited by skyllz; 12-19-2004 at 03:36 PM. |

Re: Help me diagnose the problem!! (valve seals?)
sounds like valve seals to me i got the same problem with my car i pulled the engine and found out it wasn't valve seals it was the oil rings on the piston but if u did the compression test and it was fine then its got to be the valve seals

Re: Help me diagnose the problem!! (valve seals?)
spanky9929 did you have oil fouled spark plugs? Would the oil rings reduce the compression?

Re: Help me diagnose the problem!! (valve seals?)
If you have bad rings, yes, your compression will be poor. Most likely valve seals--I'm about to take care of the same problem in my car.
