Fuel Question

Heres the deal. The specs for a 2002 type s are as follows: 9.7L/100kms. The type s has a 50 litre tank. So if you do the math i should get a maximum of 500kms per tank driving the car easy. Which I do not normally do all the time. But I decided to fill her up and baby it for an entire tank of gas. The best i could get was 350kms. Is this normal or do car companies just exagerate about gas consumption to make the car look better. Anybody have a oppinion or simular comparision.

Re: Fuel Question

Depends on your driving style (lots of revving and VTECing = lower mileage) and if you do city driving. Its not an exaggeration as this rating was done my the Canadian Ministry or Transport and its not rare for me to hit 500KM a tank but I only occasionally redline and its almost all highway.

Ya i'm sure if I did all highway driving i'd see better results too. Small town = not much highway driving. Anyways, its still pretty good milelage for a car like this i guess.

Re: Fuel Question

If you drove another car in this segment with the same driving style you'd get even worse mileage. My RSX gets mileage almsot as good as my old 1.5L Protege.

Re: Fuel Question

Haha yeah I know, I laughed as soon as I saw the title. I'm guessing for him we'd have to use fractions of an inch. Or maybe negatives.
