Wiper Arm Removal

Does anyone know the secret to removing the wiper arm? There is a nut attaching the arm to the transimission which I have removed. The arm itself seems to have some kind of pressure fitting. I have been unable to pull it off. There has to be a secret to doing this. I have even used a door panel remover to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: Wiper Arm Removal

There should be a slot in the top near were the nut is, I use a large slot screwdriver to rock the mount back and fourth while holding the wiper blade off of the window.

It takes a little patience, but works every time - don't waste your time trying to pry up under the wiper arm, you will do more damage than good.

Re: Wiper Arm Removal

Thank you very much! Once I found the slot to put the screwdriver in, it came right off in 10 seconds.

What if i told you that 1997 Grand Prix GTP has no such slot! I have looked high and low near where the nut is, and still no slot! Is it towards the motor or windshield?

Re: Wiper Arm Removal

The Grand Prix GTP may not have the slot, I've heard of people having to use a pulley puller to get them off.

Good luck

Re: Wiper Arm Removal

get a little penitrating fluid or spray grease, and spray the stud, and let it sit, then just reach under the wiper arm as close as you can to the stud and just wiglgle it back and forth, it will eventualy come off. But they are a pain in the a**.
