No HEAT and LOW engine temp solved!!!
I replaced my thermostat with a thermostat I bought at a local auto parts store. Everything worked fine in the summer. But when it got cold, no heat and my engine temp gauge would barely move over 100. Talked to a local GM mechanic and he told me to replace my thermostat. I told him I just did. He then went to parts counter and got an official GM thermostat, took it out of the box and guess what? Their thermostat comes "COMES" with a gasket. The one I had bought at the local store did not have a gasket. There was "no" loss of fluid either.
Make sure your thermostat is installed with a rubber gasket. Or you could just go to an authorized GM dealer. I paid $11 at store w/o gasket and $6.50 OEM with gasket. |

Re: No HEAT and LOW engine temp solved!!!
I have lived with this problem for many years (luckily I live arizona where the problem is not too serious). I am glad I ran into your article.
Thank you. |
