Brake Lights on 2000 Intrepid

I found out my Brake Lights were out yesterday and so far i do not know how to go about resloving, here is what i have done so far:

Tailights, Reverse and turn signals all are working. I checked the fuses and all look good there too.

Can someone guide me in the right direction here. i do not want to pay an arm and a leg to get this resolved. Could the tailights be good and only the braking feature be out?

Max

It could be the bulbs but it seems odd that all of the Brake lights are burned out (Including the center 3rd Brake Light) at one time. Still check all the bulbs and make sure they are good, and since you checked all the fuses and didn't find a bad one then the next place to look would be the Brake Light Switch at the pedal and see if it's not connected or faulty, good way to check the switch is to pull the connector off of the switch and put a jumper between the connections and see if the Brake Lights come on.

When you say the bulbs, all are working fine. all the tail lights are on. When i looked at the bulbs on the left panel all were on. I will try the switch tomorrow morning when there is more light. If it is the switch, can i replace it at Discount or Another Auto Parts Place?

The brake light switch is located near the top of the brake pedal. You will see a switch with a plunger. Depress and hold the brake pedal, rotate the brake light switch about 1/3 turn counterclockwise. Pull the switch to the rear and remove it from its mounting bracket. Unplug the electrical connector from the switch. If you have a test light, connect to the Gray/Black wire and a good ground. If you have power, the switch is bad.
Replace the switch in reverse order as removal.
The switches are inexpensive, and you can find them at any Auto Parts.
