1997 sw:.. aif? afi? ifa? help please
i just bought this thing online, basically its a resistor. it has 2 ends, and a little resistor like thing in the middle. the directions say to take off the (aif, afi, ifa.. cant remember) and insert it, then tape it down.. then not to re-plug in.. but basically, i have NO idea where this electrical plug is. it tells the ECM, EMC or whatever the air density if that helps.. can someone show me a diagram? thanks.

Let me guess, those cheap "performance chips" from ebay right? Is it the power king by chance? Anyway the iat is in the air filter box. It's the only wire sticking out of it; just pull by the plug left and right till it comes out.

I'm sorry for not being more clear. I didn't mean totally inside the box, it sticks in the box but is basically outside like you said. I don't know if smelling gas is something to expect. It may throw a SES light sometimes. The reason it does this (most of the time anyway) is because a resistor fooling the computer (this is all it does and usually won't up the engine 20 horses as they claim) tends to make the air/fuel mixture too rich or too lean.
