1st time CRX (HF) owner - check engine light question

hi, just recently bought a `91 crx (hf) with 160k miles in great condition. this is my first crx and i'm loving it. i've been getting a check engine light occassionally, but it goes off after i restart the engine and may/may not come on the next time i drive it. i've been researching alot tonight and learned about a flashing led on the ecu beneath passenger dash under carpet and will check it out tomorrow. i'm wondering, tho, since the engine check light will be off when i switch on the ignition, is it likely the code is stored and this led will be flashing or will i need to wait for the engine light to come on again and keep engine running while i pull carpet back and look for flashing led?

any insight is greatly appreciated--tks in advance!

scott

91 Honda CRX manual - http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual/2gsm/default.htm

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 seconds to reset the ECU. Drive it and see what happens.
