Help!!!! Changed Oil now engine is knocking
Hello:
I have a 95 Jeep YJ, 2.5 engine (111,500 miles) and I changed my oil today. I used Valvoline 10w-30 V-Max high mileage oil, 4qts and a new filter. When I started the engine it started knocking . I drained the oil and added regular Valvoline 10w-30 oil and it still knocks. It ran fine before the oil change. I also changed the transmission mount at the same time as it was in poor condition. I can't imagine how that could have effected the engine, but thought i would mention it. Any idea's |

Re: Help!!!! Changed Oil now engine is knocking
How long did you let it run while knocking? On my 97 2.5, it would knock for about 15-20 secs when I changed the oil, then quiet down. I watched the oil pressure gauge while it was knocking, and it started coming up after a few seconds.

Figured out the problem. The down pipe on the exhaust was leaking severly at the Exhuast manifild connecttion to the down pipe. It was loose and when I changed the oil I bumped the pipe and moved it, creating a larger void. When I moved the pipe again the void got smaller.
Took it to Car-X and they fixed it for $10.00. Runs great now. |
