Exclamation The craziest/coolest thing

Ok...I have never seen this on a vehicle before, and frankly I find it quite amusing. Get in the car, crank it up and leave it in park. Then slowly (in case it doesn't work for you) press the accelerator. For me, I can push the accelerator all the way to the floor and it only revs to about 2000-2500 RPM. CRAZY! It won't allow me to "blow up" my engine by over-revving it in park. How cool....

Another cool feature, that I am sure you are all aware of, is the fact that if your vehicle is already started, and you try to start it again, nothing will happen. You won't get that nasty "starter-against-flywheel" sound that older/other cars get. What a great addition. My truck runs so smooth, sometimes I forget it is running already anyway. (When I have been sitting in park for a while, not when I first get in. Obviously I would know then!! he he)

I love my truck....

By the way:

Re: The craziest/coolest thing

Glad to hear you are happy with your truck...I can relate. I think it's a great vehicle, and has been engineered well to boot! What you have found are two features of the truck: the drive by wire throttle (you only request a certain throttle opening, the computer actually determines how much it is opened), and the starter interrupt system, where the starter relay is controlled again by the computer. Try this also.... just hit the starter and let it go back to the run position. It will keep cranking automatically until it starts! I got used to this, and have to recrank my other car manually until it too starts

Oh, and there are a very *few* people who are having problems on this list, especially with GM, so take them with a grain of salt

Re: The craziest/coolest thing

Hey!! I'll have to try the crank-up thing...that sounds pretty neat too! I have been holding it until it starts. I will check that tomorrow!!

I have noticed several people that have had quite a few problems....that is unfortunate. I have had a few problems, but not so many as to not want it anymore. My problems have been:
1) License plate gasket getting pulled behind the holder (*fixed*)
2) A/C not cooling properly when at a red-light (*fixed with a software update*)
3)Driver side mirror not holding memory sometimes (Very weird, can't figure out what is wrong)

I can deal with those problems...that is what happens when you have a car that is run by computers, but that is also what I love about it....I love technology

The Driver side mirror memory is a software problem as well. I've had mine in 3 times. I THINK they finally got it last week.... had to upgrade software on the computer!
Good luck!

My 02 doesn't stay in start until it runs. I have to hold the key until started. The rain sensor is cool till the wipers come on with a dirty windshield.

It's good to know that there are people out there who are happy with their TB. I was hoping that this most recent ice storm would find my 2003 TB LT EXT under a tree, but no dice. She's fine and kind of still running. OH well. can't be that lucky. Hopefully, the earth will open up and return it back to the bowels of hell where it came from.

We had our keyless remote & door/engine key stolen. What are our options to keep the thieves out of our trailblazer? Please help!

SUNSPECK: Tell me what tree and an ice patch and I will help you if you help me. My TB has had so many of these quirks and BS answers from GM I am ready to find mine over a cliff!

Well, according to my local GM service department, the issues I'm having are "within normal operating parameters" or "not a safety issue". Once I got tough with the dealer by telling them I would contact the Better Business Bureau if they did not fix it correctly, it was amazing that being stuck in park was suddenly considered a safety issue. I took the TB to them to finally have it repaired, along with about 20 other problems, and was told by the service manager that they couldn't duplicate the problem. That was when it got ugly! I contacted the BBB with my saga and the GM customer service department. I should know next week if they intend to do the honorable thing and buy it back. This is after 13 months of repairs for various issues and 7-8 trips to the dealer service department. If you get to this point and have exhausted all other options, I highly recommend this course of action. The problem is that you have to stay ontop of them, otherwise they will conveniently assign your case to the manager who takes 3 weeks of vacation as soon as they get your claim or the manager who is out on maternity leave at the time and may or may not come back to work. Good luck!
