Are SRI's any good?Some say they add up to 8hp is this true or should i just save up and buy a CAI?

Never heard of them. I have a INJEN CAI and shwoo it added alot of power. IT claimed 14 hp and 11 ft lbs on the dyno sheet that came with it. I dont know if that much is true but I did notice a lil diffrence. I had a ebay generic cold air with a K&M filter and I had a AEM and this Injen CAI was by far the most impressive. Only down fall is that the Filter sits like a inch from the ground and it sucked a lil water up one night and I hydrolocked the motor. Trust me people I tried to avoid the puddle, lol. I now have a new swap and I cut the intake before it sloops in the Cold Air entry whole aside of the battery and added a AEM bypass valve and now I can rest. So, If you cold Cold AIR and INJEN you might want to do that. It cost like 40 for the bypass valve, but man thats better then a hydrolocked motor and on my lude the Injen added alot more power then the AEM. Look on AEM's website and theres a right up on the bypass valve with the guy who created it. He hooked it up to his NSX and submerged the filter in water and no water got sucked up. Ok hope this CAI works, lol..Off subject a lil, but hey its a good intake

I have debated buying a SRI or a CAI for awhile but I have not seen anything that would lead me to buy one. CAI's are supposedly better since they are further from the engine and all the heat it generates however it runs the risk of hydrolock since it is closer to the ground. CAI's also usually require that you do a bit of work to fit it properly into your car, possibly cutting a hole to fit it properly. SRI's would then seem to be the better choice. But the results of adding one seems to be minimal if you are just adding it onto a stock car. Some reviews even said that the only benefit was the racing sound to their engine. Others actually said that their low-end torque was decreased. The effects of adding either of these bolt-ons can only be felt once you have completed the whole intake/header/exhaust upgrade. Also the increase of horsepower that these companies claim is really minimal, perhaps 2-3 hp rather than 8. Someone else might correct me on this matter since I have not actually bought one and installed it but if I were you I would use the search feature and read some of the past threads about CAI's and SRI's.

adding an intake alone to a stock car with no other mods is really not very beneficial. you'll have a nice sound but other than that, any performance gain will be pretty minimal. main difference b/w the two

SRI = won't lose the low-end, if anything you'll gain some low end. wont' lose high end but won't gain much if any.
CAI = you'll lose some low-end, but you'll gain some high end

that's the trade off. realistically, the difference between the two is not much at all in my experience. if you're scared of hydrolock, get the SRI. although the chances of hydrolocking your engine with a CAI are minimal unless you're a complete moron and drive through a river. i opted for the SRI coz i liked as much low end as possible. switched from a CAI. no real noticable difference on the butt dyno.

Alright thanks guys.looks like i'll be going with the SRI and if i don't feel the difference that people are talking about i'll just make my own CAI
