Re: 1981 Camaro

why would you want that car? I can think of a lot better things to do with $300.

depends on what you're wanting out of it... originally the only camaro body style i liked was the later second-gens. now i've warmed up into liking all of them...

Re: 1981 Camaro

depends on what you want it for. and how much money you plan on sinking into it. if you buy a 300 dollar rust bucket with the intention of restoring it, your basicly kicking yourself in the crotch. if you just want a beater to drive in winter and not care too much about. then go for it.

Re: 1981 Camaro

If you can pick it up and sell it for a little more then what you got it for then great. Otherwise forget it cars are not something to invest in especially an 81 camaro of all cars. Those late 2nd gens are the Camaros most camaro guys want to forget about.

Yes the 73 was the last of a nice body style but not all F body gooroos HATE the 74 to 81. In fact I have a 78 that I like quite nicely..

Re: 1981 Camaro

Well in California people dont really like the late second gens also cause they are the smog cars. Here in Cali smog is one thing you dont want to have to deal with. I kinda like the late 2nd gens, but why get one when you could get a 1st gen, an early 2nd gen, or a 4th gen? I personally hate the 3rd gens but I am not here to put down what others like.

I guess thats where I am lucky. Alabama at this point does not have a smog check. I guess my deal on the late 2nd gen is that they are cheap compared to the 73 and older camaros.

I have owned a 69 and 67 and loved them both but restoration parts are $$$$$. Parts for the late 2nd gens are still pretty readily available and as I said are fairly cheap.

You are correct though.... the late 2nd gen is looked at as the red headed stepchild of the Fbody community.
