I have seen lots of people with the problem of hard shifting between 1st and second. Does ANYONE know the code on this problem?

Thanks in advance

Re: PLEASE HELP....Hard shifting on 98

But if it only happens in per. shift? Have the same thing with the GTX. Loves to sift hard into second and if it doesn't have enough gas, likes to "float" into 4th.
If he has the per. shit off, I would think about the same as you.

Re: PLEASE HELP....Hard shifting on 98

Its when I dont have it on and only when the car is warm. If the engine is still cool or warming up it shifts fine. I run 93 octane Shell gas and nothing else. I use fuel injector cleaner regularly so I dont know what else i can try. I recently started driving with my perf shift on and haven't noticed it as much.

Re: Re: PLEASE HELP....Hard shifting on 98

For me....I have a GT. No performance shifting on my car. I spoke to some transmission shops and.....oh boy. All they wait to here is that you have 155,000 miles so they can tell you about how the whole tranny needs to be rebuilt. Fellas.....I am scared as helll about taking this car ANYWHERE! I need to fins a solution and fix it myself....that way...at least I wont have to worry about being hosed by some "expert". I think what I am gonna do is get it on a machine to get the "code"......and then buy the service manual and do it myself.

Then try Ripn advise. It's something you can do yourself. Changing filter goes without saying.

Re: PLEASE HELP....Hard shifting on 98

in pan next to the filter there is a accumulator body with 10 or so 8mm headed bolts you will see on casting 1-2 2-3 these are your 1-2 accumlator and 2-3 accumlator be very carefull not to mix up the springs but take it apart and see if the spring is broke and make sure the bore area where the pin rides is not worn out the pins will be loose and just fall out of the assembley so put the pistons in when done and drop the pin in and make sure the springs are seated good

Re: PLEASE HELP....Hard shifting on 98

also dont take all the 8mm bolts out there is only 3 to 5 bolts holding the assembly up there re-torque to 100 inch lbs you dont have the take the tubes out to remove it. the only one you have to take out is the one with the rubber line on it. to remove it you have to take the metal clip out on the other side (just pop it out with a flat screwdriver) dont touch the 3 10mm headed bolts on the other end of the tubes.

Re: PLEASE HELP....Hard shifting on 98

I dont know if you would find that, But is super simple 2 pistons 2 pins and some springs just make sure to keep things in the same place. look at the area where the pin rides on the round piston with the seal just stick the pin in and wiggle is should be tight and the springs if not broke are fine
