Man these cars are pains in the .......rear!!! Like the Lucas Princes of Darkness of years past!! I hope those poor suckers who lay out those huge amounts of cash for Cadillacs are getting better electrical systems than we are!

Re: i need help

something like a horn is so simple electrically that it doesn't make any sense for one to blow unless the unit is faulty to begin with or there is some sort of short. Find a comparable voltage horn at an autosupply shop or junkyard. Is water getting into the horn to short it out? Ocean salt corrosion issues causing a short?

I don't have a service manual yet so I'm assuming that it's a 12V horn hooked right to the fuse panel and nothing else. The voltage should be listed on it (most likely 12V or alittle higher).

For electrical issues having a electrical schematic really helps so you can see what else is on the circuit.

Chilton's now makes a service manual

I got mine at NAPA, but I had to wait a week or so for them to get it.

Re: i need help

It sounds like you definitely have a short. Try going to a library and see if they have the service manual for your car. Many libraries stock that kind of stuff. You'll need the electrical schematic.

Re: i need help

In a '98 Intrigue, the heater in the climate control works fine but only for about two hours ... then it stops blowing heat. The problem is momentarily corrected when the engine is turned off and then back on. But the problem happens again. The water pump was recently replaced. What's the fix?

(DURING THOSE 2 HOURS IS THE BLOWER EVEN BLOWING OR BLOWING COLD AIR----OPEN THE GLOVE DEPT---AND REMOVE INSIDE LINER TO IT---AND CHECK THE BLOWER---WHEN YOUR HEAT GOES OUT---THIS WHAT I WILL CHECK FIRST!!!)

Re: Re: Re: i need help

During those two hours, the heater and blower works fine. I may have mislead you when I suggested the momentary fix was short lived. Once the engine is turned off and back on, the heater works until I get to my destination and shut the engine off. I do think that the blower is still working when the heater quits ... I'll do as you said and try to pay more attention to what is working when it stops.
