Question few questions bout my 97 yukon ?????

Hey i just bought a 97 yukon SLE here about a month ago... now i have a few questions, Is it true that all SLE's and SLT's came with remote locks? and if so can i just get a remote and just program it to work?

Next question it's, my freaken gas tank.. if is not filled right up to the top the gauge is always flickering back and forth.. went to the GM dealer and told me to put in these 2 GM cleaning chemicals in the tank and 8 outta 10 times it will fix the problem does anyone else have this problem

next question Is my trip odometer likes to get stuck on 9's, mainly 9.9 KM but ive had it go up to 299.9 and thats the highest its gotten

and my last question .. my radio lights dont work but the clock and radio station digits show, and my heater lights dont work either... what could this possibly be and would the 2 problems have somthing in comon?

Thanks alot, hopfuly someone can help me out here... i luv my truck and these are the only thinks that are drawbacks...

It sounds like a nice truck and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I had a 1998 C1500 pickup with similar problems so I’ll pass on what I know…

1. You probably did have the keyless entry but the one way to check (for 1998 models at least) is to see if you have the code “AU0” in your RPO list in the glovebox label. If so, then the truck originally had that option. I’ve seen the keyless entry fobs for sale on ebay but don’t know how you would reprogram it. Try the dealer or a search on the Chevrolet C/K forum.

2. My truck had the problem with the gas gauge starting at around 120,000 miles. It would kind of flitter back and forth. The dealer told me it was probably the sending unit located in the gas tank with the fuel pump. It was kind of expensive to replace so I left it alone. I hadn’t heard of the gas additives that you mentioned. I guess it didn’t work?

3. I had the same problem with the trip odometer since around 40,000 miles. It would hang up trying to turn over a “9” digit and start clicking….it drove me absolutely nuts until one day I managed to get it stuck by holding in the reset button. Though it never worked again, it never made that clicking sound either so that was good. I never priced a repair for it.

4. The backlights on these radios commonly go out, leaving only the station/clock display working. The replacement of the LEDs is apparently complicated. Most seem to either replace the entire radio or ignore it and do nothing (like me!). I’ve seen someone post part numbers for the LEDs which I think are available from Radio Shack. Try a search on the C/K pickup forum, that might turn up more information for you.

Good luck, hope this helps

Re: few questions bout my 97 yukon ?????

there is a tsb from gm, fuel dampening kit, around 130 bucks or so, it wires into the fuel sending unit wiring, also you probly DO need to change the sending unit at the same time, it works good. did it to mine, got the same truck

Re: few questions bout my 97 yukon ?????

not really sure how or why it works, after i installed it, my gauge was perfect i think it prevents the reading from fluctuating due to the gas sloshing around the float.

give me until tomorrow some time, lemme pull the part # to order for you
