88 cutlass supreme...questions about some mods

i recently just purchased a 1988 cutlass supreme with the 307 in it. i am looking into some performance mods. im thinkin about gettin headers back, a new high flow intake manifold, and some cams. is there any other performance mods that would help. im not lookin into anything major just some mods to make the engine run better. any help would be appreciated. thank you

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. I just recently got me an '86 as welll. We are lucky in the fact that there are some aftermarket things out there. Just that there is a very limited selection. The 307 5.0L v8 is rated at a measly 140hp. Nothing to write home about. There are 4cyl cars that make as much. Plenty of V6 cars make more as well. The main flaws in these engines are low compression and crap heads. The best option w/out having to do a Chevy SB swap is to get a olds 425 or 455 from an oldr vehicle and drop it in. Very cost effective to do. Especially if u find a good running motor. If u need some more info, feel free to contact me. I'll help u out if possible. Good luck!!
